Late last year I joined Alan Clay, the founder of The Dwarf Planet University, in New Zealand and Australia to work on this book. I’ve been studying with Alan for 5 years and assisting him on the courses for the past 2.
The most valuable section is probably the house interpretations, which look at how Haumea manifests in our daily lives, including case study examples.
A short workbook at the end also supports you in locating and on-boarding this new energy in your chart. Additionally, we put Haumea in context through a brief introduction to the other dwarf planets.
Many astrologers believe that new planets are “discovered” (because of course they were all-ways there) when we are ready to incorporate the new consciousness represented by that planet into our existing consciousness. We've noticed this with the discovery of Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto over the last two hundred years. With the recent discovery of ten more planets we're now entering a period of rapid consciousness development!
Our personal consciousness develops within the collective consciousness around us, and we see this personal consciousness mapped out in the personal planets in our chart. The planets from the Sun out to, and including, Saturn are visible to the naked eye. They talk about facets of our personality that are important in our day-to-day living.
While the inner planets represent aspects of personality, the outer planets represent aspects of consciousness. As each new outer planet is discovered, it represents a new aspect of consciousness that is becoming available to us. ‘As above, so below.’ The discovery of Uranus brought us intuitive consciousness, the discovery of Neptune, spiritual consciousness, and the discovery of Pluto, psychological consciousness.
So, the new aspect of consciousness that Haumea offers us is the magic of being alive. Put simply, Haumea takes the psychic opening of Neptune and turns it into real psychic connection with the oneness of all existence. However, this new consciousness doesn't kick in automatically. We must actively incorporate it into our lives.
Because these outer planets talk of consciousness, how they manifest in our lives depends on our current level of consciousness. Many people on the planet experience the outer planets as unconscious influences. When we haven't been sensitive and adaptable in the lead-up, these esoteric new energies are often only perceived when, like Pluto, they barge into our lives in a confrontational way.
As we develop spiritually, however, and consciously endeavour to on-board these new energies into our lives, they become like guides into new territory. They offer us special skills or challenges, depending on what they are aspecting in our chart. At this level, rather than unconscious influences, the outer planets become like a new super-consciousness.
Here’s to bumping up the consciousness of the soft technology of humanity so that the hard technology (AI) we’re rapidly developing looks after our precious Earth. Onwards to enlightenment!
In the mythology of Haumea she has strong connections with the nurturing and regenerative powers of trees and plants and even hides her partner in a tree to save him. I found my happy place inside this tree friend in Pennsylvania (Penn’s woods), where I was a free-range child.
